Who We Are

Founded On the Rock in ChrisT (FORT)

Matthew 7
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

The name of the Youth Ministry of Ang Mo Kio Methodist church comes from the words of Jesus in His amazing sermon on the mount. No matter what came against the wise man's house, it stood strong because of the strong and stable foundation. Jesus then explained that the foolish man chose instead to build his house on sand. In contrast, the foolish man experienced the same storms, but without a strong foundation, his house collapsed with great trauma. The same is true of people; a life cannot be strong, resilient and enduring unless there is a rock-solid foundation.

We are committed to helping young people build their lives, strengthen their identity, renew and transform their hearts upon the perfect foundation of Jesus Christ. We will provide our young people with opportunities to develop their ministry giftings through service, experience God-honoring fun through biblical fellowship, and illumination from God's word through our teaching.

At the same time, we want to challenge youths to live FOR Christ, with “T” representing the cross of Jesus Christ. “For unless the builder builds the house, we all labour in vain” (Psalm 127:1). We must live for Christ.

Finally, the word “fort” can be seen as a fortress, a safe and strong haven from enemies. We pray the youth ministry will be every young person’s safe haven where they can be truly themselves, knowing they are completely secure in Jesus Christ our Rock and Shield. And we pray this security will be so manifest, many more young souls will come into God’s wonderful family.

Tell us a bit about yourselves!

Pastor Anthony Lee
Pastor Anthony is passionate about seeing God move in His work of transforming young people. He is always looking to grow deeper in God because He strongly believes ministry for God is an outflow of intimacy with God. But above all, he is simply hungry for more of God because God is so good and amazing! Prayer, worship, and meditating on God's Word are primary ways He enjoys God.

When he's not working, you will find him at home with his beloved wife and baby boy, listening to music or catching up with a book, out exercising at the gym, having a swim, taking a jog, playing soccer, watching a movie, practicing photography, or simply hanging out with friends and youths.

Justin Chan
Justin lives a 4G life:

  • He loves God, who saved him when he was 13 years old in this very church.
  • He is in love with a girl (Christine), whom he is happily engaged to and cannot wait to start married life with.
  • He plays the guitar, the instrument of choice when it comes to expressing his personal worship and wrecking sonic pandemonium.
  • He actively reads good books (ok, that admittedly should come under a "b") to reinforce his understanding of God, and seeks to make Him known to others.

His musical experience includes playing in his band Only After Coffee, the volunteer bands at Singapore Youth For Christ, and as a session player for New Heart Music Ministries and RBC Ministries. He also has his own YouTube channel where he teaches guitar.

His favorite music includes Joe Satriani, Guthri Govan, Andy Timmons, Lifehouse, Death Cab For Cutie, Mae, Lifehouse and Whence He Came.
